Force Table Version 1.2.04 12/17/2004

Click here to go directly to Force Table Data Entry

There are two types of displays. The first is for entering vectors by specifying length
and degrees. The other type displays a diagram of a set of vectors.
The data entry display:
Each row contains a column for length and a column for degrees.
   The buttons:
Next Set: Displays the next set of vectors.
Diagrams: Switches to the diagram display.
New Set (of x Vectors): Displays a blank series of rows. Change x to specify the
         number of rows.
Delete Set: Deletes the currently displayed set of vectors.
The diagram display:
Each window displays a set of vectors as red arrows. There is a label at the top of the
window that shows the numerical values for each vector. When the Resultant button is
pressed, a blue resultant vector is also displayed and its numerical values are added to
the label at the top of the window. The Resultant button changes to say Next Set. The
Components button will display the components for each vector along with the numerical
value of each component. The Next Set button will display the next set of vectors. The
Enter Sets button switches to the data entry display.
The ForceTable.txt file contains the numerical values of the vectors (except the
resultant) to be displayed. The resultant is calculated by the computer. The numerical
values are in pairs, length followed by the angle in degrees. Each set may have one or
more pairs. The values within each set are separated by commas. Each set appears on a
new line. Currently the applet version will not save the newly entered vectors. It will
only retain vectors directly entered into the ForceTable.txt file.
Installation: Unzip the ForceTable1_2.zip file.
Operation: Double click the index.html file. The vectors will be displayed in a
browser. If they don't display, the Java Runtime Environment may have to be set correctly
for this applet. The Java Runtime Environment may be downloaded from
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html as of 3/8/2004. Use the section
"Download J2SE v1.4.2_04" on that web page. You may download either JRE or SDK. The
SDK includes the JRE and the whole Java development kit. Follow the instructions that
may be viewed and printed from that section on the web page.
As an alternative to ForceTable.html you may double click the ForceTable.bat file. This
would require Java installed on your computer, and that can be done using the previous
download instructions.
Version 1.0 03/04/2004
Version 1.1 03/08/2004
Expanded instructions for operation. Runtime environment must be correct for browser
to display the applet. Added alternative standalone program.
Version 1.2 07/14/2004
Allow data entry of vector sets. Display value of x and y components.
Version 1.2.02 07/29/04
Redo version numbers to make them consistent between related classes.
Version 1.2.03 08/05/04
Added the index.html file so that the relevant part of the instructions
would be available via the web.
Version 1.2.04 December 17, 2004
Fixed VectorTable and DoubleEditor so that extra zero is
   not inserted by program.
