Course Content: The course will cover Ch. 1 - 18. Main topics to be discussed are Mechanics, Heat & Thermodynamics and Vibrations & Waves, and Sound. We will cover about two chapter a week. You will also be assigned regular homework from the class text and also online homework with specific deadlines, and encouraged to take advantage of Multimedia Interactive Physics CDs, and Internet resources.

Exams: 3 one hour exams and a comprehensive final

First Exam ..........................February 13, 14

Second Exam .........................March 12, 13

Third Exam ..........................April 16, 17

Final Exam .......................... Exam week

3 one hour exams ( 15% each)............= 45%

Online homework/quizzes.....................= 10%

1 comprehensive final exam ................= 20%

Lab..........................................................= 25%

Total .......................................................=100%

Each of the one hour exams will be made up of 10 multiple choice questions (60pts) and two word problems (40pts). The final will consist of 15 multiple choice questions (90pts) and three word problems (60pts)

Note: No exam make-ups are allowed except under special conditions (e.g. hospitalization etc).
